Peter Kam

Peter Kam is a multi-faceted composer, arranger and producer for film music, and pop songs.  He studied music composition and arranging in San Francisco State University and the Dick Grove School of Music in the USA.  Kam is highly recognized for his versatile creativity and stylized approach to film scoring, and is one of the very few to earn recognitions in both the film and pop music field.

Having scored for over 50 films, Kam has won numerous film music awards, including the prestige 56th Berlin International Film Festival Silver Bear – Best Film Music award for Isabella in 2006. Recently, he scored for such films as Bodyguards And Assassins, Detective Dee as well as WuXia.

In 2007, Kam was appointed by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR to compose the theme song for the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, “Just Because You Are Here”. In addition, he was commissioned to compose the theme song for the Beijing 2008 Olympics’ 1-year countdown campaign theme song, “We Are Ready”; the Beijing 2008 International Olympics Committee dedication song “Hard To Say Goodbye”, as well as 60 Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC dedication song “Nation”.

In 2008, Kam was appointed the Medal of Honor from the HKSAR.
