Ash Hempsall

Painter and Poet. Born London 1964. Currently lives in ZhuJiaJiao, near Shanghai. Work held in private collections in UK, US, China, Japan, Canada and Australasia.

Commissions

1999   Commissioned by Hong Kong movie director Tsui Hark to paint a mural featured in his contemporary classic, ‘Time & Tide’ (Hong Kong)

Writing

2013   Writes, illustrates and publishes ‘DeadWoodTimes’ – world’s first poem newspaper. Distributed selectively in

China, Europe, US and India. Second edition due late 2014.

2009   Experimental, illustrated novel titled ‘And Then’, 2009. Selectively distributed to personally influential figures including renowned Canadian philosopher Charles Taylor, winner of the prestigious Templeton Prize (2007).

2008/9 Poetry published in the first edition of Nanjing-based writers journal, Truth, (October 2009). Poetry work also included in Second Life, commended at Sydney Writer’s Festival 2008.
